UML is everywhere. You may not notice or think of it, but it is fundamental for capturing structured thought in classes and associations.
It is a formal description language of anything nontrivial that needs to be reasoned about.
Since we at MDriven have taken UML to its logical extreme and, from that point, solved the major problems of speedy, low-cost, high-precision information system ownership, we were very interested to hear Grady Booch’s thoughts on the topic.
It turned out we were not fully in agreement! I am a bit surprised, but watch, think, and comment!
The MDriven server components are in the same class of products as other course-grained IT-infrastructural components as Grady speaks about. However, there is a fundamental difference: they are driven by the model you supply. MDriven models can fully describe all the business requirements of any endeavor.
This way, the MDriven path to IT delivery is the first in the world to fully enable enterprise-grade execution of your requirements rather than having to find a team to “start to code”. This creates an unprecedented rise in quality and speed for everyone serious about agile business support systems.
